One habit at a time

Each clip is the app as it is, recorded on an iPhone simulator, doing one thing at the pace you would do it. The steps are written out beside it, so you can follow along without watching.

Find it, and copy the answer

Search for something and read where it is, then open an entry and copy its headline fact.

Steps

  1. Open Trovva. The search field is at the top of Home.
  2. Tap the search field and type sleepsuits.
  3. The match shows how many there are, 3 items, and where they are: inside the Winter box, in the Basement, on Shelf B3.
  4. Clear the field with the button at its end, and type paint.
  5. Tap Hallway paint. Its colour code, S 0502-Y, is at the top of Details.
  6. Tap Copy under the code. The button says Copied, and S 0502-Y is on the clipboard, ready to paste.

Save something you will need later

Start a new entry from a preset, fill in what you know, and find it again from Home.

Steps

  1. On Home, tap New entry. It asks what you are saving.
  2. Choose Paint or finish. The cursor moves to Title: type Bedroom paint.
  3. Scroll down to Details. Brand, Colour, Colour code and a few more are already there, ready to fill in.
  4. Scroll to the value under Colour code, tap it and type S 1002-Y. Leave what you do not know empty; every detail can change later.
  5. Tap Save. The entry opens with its colour code, S 1002-Y, at the top of Details.
  6. Go back to Home, tap the search field and type bedroom. Bedroom paint is the match, with its colour code beside it.

Where did we put it

Find a box and the shelf it is on, see what is inside it, and move one thing into another container.

Steps

  1. On Home, tap the search field and type winter box. The match is the Winter box, in the Basement, on Shelf B3.
  2. Tap Winter box. Where it is, Shelf B3, is at the top of Details.
  3. Scroll down to Contents. It says 18 items in 5 kinds, and lists them: long-sleeve tops (5), sleepsuits (3), wool base layers (3), jumpers (2) and bibs (5).
  4. Tap Sleepsuits. It is an entry of its own. Scroll down to Inside: it is in the Winter box, with Move to another container and Take out of container under it.
  5. Tap Move to another container and choose Otto's summer clothes. Before anything moves, it says where from and where to: out of Winter box and into Otto's summer clothes.
  6. Tap Move. Sleepsuits is now inside Otto's summer clothes.
  7. Go back to the Winter box. Contents now says 15 items in 4 kinds, and sleepsuits are no longer on the list.

Keep up with maintenance

Log a filter change, log the next one with a note, and correct the note later. The log still counts.

Steps

  1. On Home, open Kitchen water filter. It shows its part number, when it is next due, and how many times it has been logged.
  2. Tap Log this as done. The count goes up by one, and the next due date moves on.
  3. Tap Log with a note and write what was done, for example “New cartridge, old one was grey”.
  4. Tap Save. The log is saved with its note, and the count goes up again.
  5. Scroll down to History. Each log is listed under its year, with its note.
  6. Tap Edit beside the note and change “grey” to “brown”.
  7. Tap Save. The note now reads “New cartridge, old one was brown”, and the log keeps its date.
  8. Scroll back to the top. The log still counts: five times logged.

Reuse a packing list

Start a run from a packing list kept as a template, tick it off as you pack, and untick it all for next time. The template does not change.

Steps

  1. On Home, open Camping packing list under Favourites. It is a template: its items have no boxes to tick.
  2. Scroll down and tap Start a new run. It asks what to call the run, and suggests the list's name with the day.
  3. Keep the name and tap Start a new run. The run opens with all twelve items, none ticked.
  4. Tick Tent, poles and pegs. The list shows 1 of 12.
  5. Scroll down and tap Untick everything. It says what it will clear before it does anything.
  6. Tap Untick everything, then scroll up to the top. The list shows 0 of 12, and every item is still there.
  7. Go back to the template. Every run started from it is listed under Runs from this list, the new one first.
